Buying or Issuing the DeFi Pulse Index Set on TokenSets

The easiest way to buy the DeFi Pulse Index (DPI) Set is through the TokenSets website. If you would like, you can directly buy it through Uniswap or any other existing secondary market, but this guide will be limited to buying and issuing from the TokenSets website.

The buy flow on the TokenSets website is connected directly through decentralized exchanges and lets you acquire the DPI Index token that other people have issued with one asset and at low gas costs. The trade-off here is that your transaction size will be limited by the depth of the pool and you may encounter some small slippage.

The issue flow lets you mint the DPI Index token directly using underlying components. The trade-off here is that it requires you to have all the component tokens and costs much more in gas, but you can mint as many as you want.

Outside of these two locations, you may also buy using Dharma and Pillar Wallet.

Buying Through TokenSets

1. Navigate to tokensets.com and sign in to your account. If you do not have an account, check out this guide on how to make one.

2. Once you are logged in click on “Explore Sets” right next to the “Account” button.

3. You should automatically be on the “Portfolios” tab, but if not, click on “Portfolios” right above the “Featured Sets.”

4. Scroll down through the page until you see the “DeFi Pulse Index” row. Click on it to navigate to the product page.

5. Once at the product page you can view performance history and other details. For now, click the “Buy” button on the top right.

6. The “Buy” popup will automatically open and you can select how much of the index you wish to buy. Right below, it will show you how much ETH the transaction will cost, and give you the option to pay with a different currency. For the purposes of this guide, we will stick with ETH.

7. Once you have inputted the quantity you want to buy and the asset you want to buy it in, click the “Preview Buy” button at the bottom of the popup. Note that you may be warned about the slippage on the order. Because we route the transaction to the best secondary market, there may be times when the depth of on chain liquidity is low. In these cases, we recommend either breaking up the transaction into smaller chunks, or for really large transactions, contacting the team.

8. On the “Preview Buy” you will be able to see some key facts about your order. The network is the cost to do a transaction on the Ethereum network and is not a fee that we make money from. Depending on how congested the network is, the fee may increase or decrease.

9. If you are comfortable with the details, hit “Submit Buy” and you are done! You will see your DPI Index token on the TokenSets dashboard.

Issuing Through TokenSets

1. Navigate to tokensets.com and sign in to your account. If you do not have an account, check out this guide on how to make one.

2. Once you are logged in click on “Explore Sets” right next to the “Sign in” button.

For now, click on the small down arrow button next to the “Buy” and “Sell” buttons. On the drop down menu, click “Issue.”

6. This will take you to a new page for the issue flow. The first step is to approve all of your tokens for issuance. At the bottom of the screen, click on the “Approve All” button. This will pop up a MetaMask window for every approval transaction. Note that the tokens in the Index are subject to change and this screenshot may not be up to date, this is purely for illustrative purposes.

7. After all the approvals have been processed, your screen should look something like this.

8. Once your screen looks like that, and you have entered how many DPI Index Tokens you would like to issue, click on the “Issue” button and approve the MetaMask transaction.

9. Once the transaction processes and you see this screen below, you are done!
